Kovacs said: “I don’t care about being fired. Since news spread about my acting debut I have been flooded with offers from producers to do more films.”

EU Makes Soft Porn Film

2008, Mar 29th

The 44-second video, posted on YouTube, opens with a man and a woman stripping each other naked.

It’s followed by a series of passionate clinches in all manner of positions – including two gay couples.

The highly charged scenes are interchanged with snaps of bottles rattling on a shelf and an egg on toast shaking under a grill.

The film, entitled Film Lovers Will Love This, finishes with the couples’ orgasms and the line: “Let’s come together.”

It then tells the audience “Millions of cinema lovers enjoy European films… every year. Europe supports European films”.

The video was compiled by the commission’s press unit, using footage from films Amelie and All About My Mother.

It is one of four made for screening in European cinemas to advertise an EU fund that helps distributes successful films made in one EU state to others.

Maciej Giertych, an MEP with the League of Polish Families complained the EU was using “immoral methods”.

But Godfrey Bloom, a UKIP MEP, said: “I suppose this film is appropriate. The EU has been screwing Britain for the past 30 years.”

Secret Stasi Pornographic Films Found

2008, Mar 29th

Grainy pornographic films made for officers of the People’s Army of former Communist East Germany have surfaced in the Stasi files in Berlin.

Movies with titles like Glass Dreams, Private Werner’s Big Surprise and F***ing for the Fatherland were made by a secret unit set up within a barracks of the army in Biesdorf in East Berlin.

While the west fretted about the Cold War turning hot, soldiers based at Biesdorf were measured all over to see if they were well-enough endowed to play in the blue movies that mimicked those of the west in both style and substance.

Officially, to the overlords of the politburo, pornography was a disease of capitalism that held no place in the socialist paradise behind the Berlin Wall.

Unofficially, 160 officers and men beavered away with 16mm cameras to produce pornographic movies that were shown to top brass of the army in East Germany and for visiting generals from other Warsaw Pact nations.

According to the Stasi files, an “amateur film circle” was set up in Biesdorf in 1982 to make the films.

Dietmar Schuertze, 57, who now works as a media spokesman for the modern-day Bundeswehr, was back then both a sound assistant and actor in the parade ground productions.

“They were made, essentially, in secret but nothing got done in that man’s army without the approval of the brass,” he said. “They were made for their consumption anyway.”

From a small nucleus of 12 privates, officers and civilian staff, the Biesdorf blue movie factory grew to 160 people, churning out short pornographic movies – short in both running time and imaginative plots .

But what they lacked in artistic taste they made up for in explicit action, according to Stasi file workers who have seen some of them. “Officers held garden parties with the movies where they came along out of lust or simple curiosity,” added Schuertze.

The women in the films were mostly locals supplementing meagre wages or rations by performing in them.

Some of the less shocking segments of the movies were shown on MDR TV on Wednesday night in Germany.

“I didn’t recognise myself,” said one soldier “Neither did my wife, thank God.”

Porn vs. Prostitution

2008, Mar 29th

Why is it legal to pay someone for sex on camera?

Every time a politician is caught with an expensive prostitute or just with his legs in a wide stance, Explainer readers have asked why laws don’t treat pornography and prostitution the same way. Having sex on camera for an adult film generally won’t get Jenna Jameson in trouble, but doing it with a john is illegal everywhere except in parts of Nevada. What’s the difference between porn and prostitution?

Porn stars are paid to act (really); prostitutes are paid for sex. Performers may engage in sex as part of their roles—they presumably follow a script—but that doesn’t count as sex for hire. Sex in the course of creating a movie or a photo is just plain old expression, protected under the First Amendment. (Click here for an excellent review of this distinction by Sherry F. Colb.) Free-speech advocates argue that this ought to hold true for “gonzo” films, in which the person behind the camera also joins in on the action; no significant cases have gone to court, however. Compared with sexually explicit media, though, live sex shows have received less protection. But the Supreme Court in Oregon did overturn two state laws concerning sex shows, on free speech and expression grounds, in 2005.

Prostitution: A User’s Manual

2008, Mar 29th

ProstitutionIn light of Eliot Spitzer’s recent announcement that he was involved in a prostitution ring, the HuffPost Living editors have put together this handy-dandy list of everything you need to know about the world’s oldest profession. Then we want you to tell us below in comments what you think of prostitution, if you think it should be legal, if you’ve ever used a prostitute (no judgment here!), and what we’ve left out.

1. First, let’s get the boring legal business out of the way. What exactly is prostitution?

Prostitution is “the act or practice of engaging in sexual intercourse for money.”

2. Okay, got it. So is it common for men to use prostitutes?

According to Dr. Teela Sanders, a senior lecturer at the University of Leeds, and the author of Paying For Pleasure: Men Who Buy Sex, nearly one in three men will buy sex at some point in his life. . .and we’re not talking porn.

Once-Puritan South Africa Holds Its First Sex Fair

2007, Oct 4th

Johannesburg – South Africans queued to learn about sex toys and pole-dancing this weekend, at the first sex fair ever held in a country founded by conservative Christians and still home to many sexual taboos.

The exhibition, modeled on a show running in Australia since 1996, would have been unthinkable 15 years ago when South Africa was still ruled by Afrikaners, the white descendants of the original, largely Puritan Dutch and French settlers.

During the apartheid era, customs officials not only confiscated pornography brought from abroad by travelers, but sometimes detained those trying to import it. Strip clubs did not exist and handcuffs, though abundant, were not fur-lined.

The end of white minority rule in 1994 and the establishment of a new constitution — generally considered one of the most liberal in the world — unleashed a torrent of hard-core porn. Sex shops and strip clubs blossomed.

Although authorities tolerate the lifestyle, it remains one that few South Africans openly discuss or admit to supporting.

Porn Star’s Blog Has Tennessee Trooper in Hot Water

2007, Jun 1st

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has suspended a trooper who allegedly received a sexual favor from a porn star and recorded the act with a camera from his cruiser in return for ignoring her possession of illegal painkillers.

The woman, who goes by the stage name Barbie Cummings, said that at a traffic stop on May 7, trooper James Randy Moss found illegal painkillers in her car, but decided not to bust the Knoxville woman in return for a sexual favor.

Now Moss is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation by the Tennessee Department of Safety.

The incident came to the attention of officials when someone filed an internal complaint against the veteran trooper, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Browning.

Browning told ABC News that he could add few details beyond a press release issued Friday that announced Moss’ indefinite suspension.

Vienna’s Public Library Raising Cash Through Erotica Hotline

2007, May 8th

Vienna, Austria – This isn’t the typical whispering you might expect to hear at a library.

Vienna’s City Hall has launched a “sex hotline” to raise money for the capital’s main public library, officials said Tuesday.

It’s unusual, but it’s not particularly raunchy: Callers pay 53 U.S. cents a minute to listen to an actress read breathless passages from erotica dating to the Victorian era.

City Hall set up the hotline earlier this month to help the library raise cash for planned remodelling and expansion, Austrian media reported.

Anne Bennent, a famous Austrian stage and film star, reads passages from the Vienna library’s collection of 1,200 works of erotic fiction from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, the library said.

Officials said the hotline would be operational through May 31.
